Report: We headed out of the marina with a great crew and found ourselves in the middle of some classic April action. We spent the morning trolling the deep blue, and it didn't take long for the reels to start screaming. The highlight of the day was a spectacular Atlantic Sailfish that put up an incredible fight. Following our commitment to sustainability, we ensured a safe, healthy release so this majestic billfish could fight another day. Afternoon Success: A Great Day for the Family!

Report: We wrapped up another productive afternoon trip out of the Puerto Aventuras marina, and the results were worth the effort. While most visitors were relaxing at their resorts, we were offshore in the Caribbean Sea finding plenty of activity in the deep blue. The standout moment of the trip came when this beautiful Atlantic Sailfish hit our spread. It was a great catch that gave our guests a real feel for the strength of these fish. Seeing the excitement on the face of our youngest angler as we brought it alongside the boat is what these trips are all about. After a few quick photos to remember the day, we got the fish back into the water for a healthy release.

Report: There is no better way to kick off the day than a sunrise start in the Riviera Maya! On March 26th, we headed out for a productive 4-hour early morning trip aboard our 40ft Luhrs, Lobster Tales. The morning air was fresh, the Caribbean Sea was calm, and it didn't take long for the action to heat up off the coast of Puerto Aventuras. We had an incredible group on board who were ready for action from the moment we cleared the marina. The highlight of the trip was landing not one, but two beautiful Atlantic Sailfish. These fish are the ultimate morning wake-up call, providing a masterclass in speed and aerial acrobatics. Watching our guests battle these "Ferraris of the Ocean" as the sun climbed higher over the horizon was a sight to behold. Afternoon Sailfish Spectacular!

Report: Who says the morning crew gets all the fun? Our latest afternoon charter out of Puerto Aventuras proved that the bite stays hot even when the sun is high! While most people were headed to the beach, we were heading offshore to find some world-class action on the Caribbean Sea. We had the pleasure of hosting a father and his two sons for an afternoon they won't soon forget. The Riviera Maya coastline provided a stunning backdrop with deep blue water and clear skies—the perfect setting for a family battle with a sea monster. The Afternoon Highlight: A Giant Atlantic Sailfish The reels started screaming mid-afternoon, and it didn't take long to realize we had a real trophy on the line. An Atlantic Sailfish put on a masterclass in acrobatics, showing off that iconic sail and testing the strength of our young anglers. Watching the boys work together with their dad to bring this beauty boat-side was what sportfishing is all about. Our crew was right there to ensure a safe, professional handle on the fish for these incredible photos before a successful release. The Pescado Adventures Difference The Pescado Adventures team prides itself on hunting just as hard at 2:00 PM as we do at 6:00 AM. We know these waters like the back of our hand, and we don't stop until our clients have a story worth telling. Whether it’s finding the right temperature breaks or spotting the birds, we do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the fight.

Dawn Patrol Delivers: A Morning to Remember!

Report: The early bird definitely gets the fish in Puerto Aventuras! We traded sleep for silver torpedoes, heading out just as the sun began to peek over the Caribbean horizon. There is a special kind of magic in the air during a Riviera Maya sunrise, and the fish were just as awake as we were. Our latest family of anglers proved that the best way to start your day is with a screaming reel and a "double" on the deck before most people have even finished their first coffee. The first light of day brought some incredible action to the spread: sunrise Wahoo and early bird Sailfish: Catching a billfish before breakfast? That’s the Pescado Adventures way! And seeing the kids tackle these powerful predators in the cool morning air was incredible. From the deep blue offshore to the colorful Yellowtail Snapper closer in, it was a full-circuit morning of success. Our crew is at the docks long before the sun rises, prepping the gear and rigging the baits to ensure that when that first light hits the water, we are exactly where the fish are. Hard work and local experience are what turn a "boat ride" into a legendary fishing experience. Nothing beats that morning energy!

Report: It was a banner day for quality and variety, proving that you don't need a full day on the water to land some "wall-hanger" trophies. Black Grouper: The heavyweight of the trip! As you can see in the photo, our guests hauled up a massive Black Grouper that tested both the gear and the angler's strength. Mutton Snapper: We continued our hot streak with these beautiful, rosy-hued fish. They remain a favorite for our clients due to their stubborn fight and excellent table quality. Morning Magic on the 7 Mares

Report: The Caribbean sun was just beginning to paint the horizon as we slipped out of the Puerto Aventuras marina for an early morning 4-hour session aboard our 38ft Bertram, '7 Mares'. There is a certain stillness to the Riviera Maya coastline in those early hours—before the breeze picks up—that makes the ocean feel like it belongs only to you, but the quiet didn't last long; while the coffee was still hot, our team’s hard work paid off and the reels were already starting to sing. The Catch of the Day Mutton Snapper: The star of the show! As you can see in the photos, we landed some truly impressive specimens. These fish are known for their wary nature and incredible fight, but they are even better known for being one of the best-tasting fish in the Caribbean. Yellowtail Snapper: We rounded out the haul with a healthy mess of Yellowtails. These are a local favorite—fast, aggressive, and perfect for a fresh ceviche back on shore. The Pescado Experience At Pescado Adventures, we pride ourselves on more than just the fish. It’s about the experience of being on the water in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Whether you are a seasoned angler or it's your first time holding a rod, our experienced team handles the heavy lifting so you can focus on the tug at the end of the line. A Sailfish Dream Realized!

Report: While the peak sailfish season isn't officially in full swing yet here in the Riviera Maya, this past Monday provided a perfect example of why this is our favorite time of year. While much of the world is bundled up, our guests were out on the deep blue enjoying the stunning natural beauty of the Caribbean Sea. 🌊 Conditions Crystal clear Caribbean blue with a light breeze and perfect billfish weather. 🏆 The Catch of the Day We are thrilled to share this incredible moment from our trip on January 19th! Our client had a "life-long dream" of landing a trophy billfish, and the Pescado Adventures team was determined to make it happen. After a short cruise out from the Puerto Aventuras Marina—where the drop-off allows us to get lines in the water almost immediately—the reels started screaming. It was an acrobatic battle against a magnificent Atlantic Sailfish. These are among the fastest hunters in the ocean, and seeing that iconic dorsal fin slice through the water is a spectacle that never gets old. 🐟 Beyond the Billfish While the sailfish stole the show, the Riviera Maya coastline continues to be productive for a variety of species this month, including: Wahoo & Kingfish: Adding some high-speed excitement to the trolling lines. Bottom Fishing: Yielding fresh Snapper for that famous Pescado Adventures tableside ceviche.

Every day a fishing day

Report: Every day is a fishing day if you are anywhere close to Puerto Aventuras in the Riviera Maya. ?? There’s something about that first light hitting the Caribbean and the hum of the engines as we head out past the reef. It’s not always about the "trophy"—though pulling in a couple of solid Kingfish like these certainly doesn't hurt. It’s about the sun, the salt air, and the crew that makes every trip feel like a day out with old friends. Bonito Bonanza

Report: We hit them hard and fast on this early morning 6-hour private fishing charter out of the Puerto Aventuras marina. Our Pescado Adventures crew expertly navigated the currents and got us on top of some really cool action. Bonito is a firm, meaty, and oily fish (similar to tuna, but with a stronger flavor), which makes it an excellent candidate for the grill, as it holds together well and the char enhances its richness. Our team's consensus for the "best" grilled bonito recipe is one that uses simple, bright Mediterranean flavors to complement the fish's strong, dark meat (think lemon, garlic, oregano, olive oil). A delicious meal is the best reward after catching, catching, catching!

Mahi Mahi season is NOW

Report: It is definitely Mahi Mahi season along the southern Riviera Maya coastline. Now is when they are running hot. Although this has not been great for beach lovers, Mahi are often associated with floating debris or weed lines, like the sargassum which we now have a lot of in the Caribbean. These floating ecosystems provide shade and cover, which baitfish utilize to hide from predators. This concentration of bait is what ultimately draws in the game fish. So let's get out there and go find some fish!

Sailfish in the house

Report: Sailfish season is starting in the Riviera Maya. Did you know that the Riviera Maya provides a compelling habitat for sailfish, drawing them in with a combination of favorable environmental conditions and abundant food sources. One of the sailfish's behavioral characteristics that is most advantageous to our charter fishing operation is coastal proximity. While sailfish are open-ocean dwellers, they often venture closer to shore in the Riviera Maya, particularly where coral reefs and freshwater runoff create productive feeding zones. In addition, the quick drop off of the continental shelf, very close to the Riviera Maya shoreline, allows sailfish quick access to deep water, and then also quick access to shallow bait fish concentrations. If you love the sport and want some real action, now is the time to get to sea!

More sailfish surprise out of Puerto Aventuras

Report: This is the second sailfish we have landed in the space of a week. In the Riviera Maya, sailfish are present year-round, but their abundance varies significantly with the seasons. The peak season for sailfish fishing typically occurs from late winter to early summer, with March through June being the prime months for encountering these magnificent fish. During this period, the warmer waters and plentiful baitfish attract large schools of sailfish to the region. While still present during the rest of the year, their numbers are considerably lower outside of the peak season. So very privileged we were to bring this beauty on board for a quick photo session.

Wahoo are here now

Report: Wahoo are here in the Riviera Maya! What a beautiful catch we landed yesterday. This baby is definitely going to be prepared on the barbecue. :) In the Riviera Maya, wahoo are present year-round, but their abundance varies depending on the season. The peak season typically occurs during the winter months, from November to February, when cooler water temperatures and abundant baitfish attract these apex predators. Now is the time to get out to sea and get fishing!

Wahoo!

Report: They are here! Wahoo are a highly sought-after game fish in the Riviera Maya due to their aggressive strikes and delicious meat. While they can be caught year-round, the best time to target Wahoo is during the cooler months, from November to March. During this period, water temperatures drop, and Wahoo tend to congregate in larger schools, making them easier to find and catch. Let's go for it!

All day action

Report: Although the weather has not been perfect, with cloudy skies and rain showers common through the week, we were out at sea almost every day and had a lot of fun! On this 6-hour private fishing charter we managed to hook 5 barracuda, 1 wahoo, 1 yellowtail kingfish and 1 bonito. A fantastic catch that had everyone in the group see some action. Despite this being a slower season for fishing, we have still managed to find the fish.

Hard work, big fish

Report: While we have been out fishing most days of this month, we haven't published any reports lately. Here's one where we managed to hook a really good-looking wahoo, which is a great fish for grilling because it's firm and meaty, making it less likely to fall apart on the grill. Try marinating it with a combination of olive oil, lime juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. After grilling serve with lime wedges. Wahoo can dry out quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. It's best served medium-rare to medium. One of our favorite recipes!

Mahi Mahi madness

Report: Another awesome day out on the Mexican Caribbean. Weather and sea conditions were just right, in fact, August has been the first month in the entire year that we have not had to cancel trips due to weather! This has been fantastic news for us who like to fish, as calm seas mean that no one felts uncomfortable on the water. An atypical month but perfect for us. :) And just when we thought the season would slow down, Mahi Mahi were jumping out of the water again. This meant that our Pescado Adventures crew could prepare some delicious, fresh ceviche to enjoy after hours of tight lines.

Wahoo wahoo wahoo

Report: Wahooooo! Awesome full day 8-hour trip on our 40ft Luhrs with lots of action for everyone. Hooked enough wahoo to feed quite a few people. :) Cannot beat fresh fish on the barbecue. Here's one of our favorite recipes if you ever have the opportunity to take some home: cut the wahoo into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a mixture of olive oil, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic for 30 minutes. Thread the wahoo pieces onto skewers along with chunks of pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion. Grill the kabobs over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the wahoo is cooked through and the pineapple is caramelized. Drizzle with a teriyaki glaze for extra flavor. Deep sea fishing outside of the Puerto Aventuras marina just keeps giving.

Report: An early morning start allowed u to watch the sunrise as we dropped our lines in the water. It was a beautiful start to the day. And we saw some action: wahoo, skipjack tuna, barracuda and bonito. Afterwards we anchored in the calmer waters of the Puerto Aventuras inlet (caleta) for a well-deserved swim and some food.
