White Marlin and Mahi-Mahi Action — 6-Hour Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Sunday, May 17, 2026 delivered one of those days that reminds you why the Riviera Maya is the premier billfish destination in the Caribbean. Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales positioned on the deep blue where the action needed to be, and within hours of leaving the Puerto Aventuras marina, the reels were screaming.
The highlight came when an Atlantic white marlin crashed the spread with explosive power — a prestigious catch that had everyone on deck locked in for the fight. After a hard-fought battle and trophy photos, the white marlin was carefully released back into the deep in keeping with our conservation-first approach to billfish. The action didn’t stop there. Beautiful mahi-mahi — those electric, hard-fighting fish — came up throughout the morning, delivering the full spectrum of offshore fishing. The conditions were firing, the crew was dialed in, and by the time we cleared the marina, everyone on board had a story worth telling.
Six hours on the Riviera Maya waters delivered billfish, table fish, and the kind of Caribbean day that keeps anglers coming back. Explore our charter options and book your trip.

Sailfish Release on an 8-Hour Charter — Puerto Aventuras, Riviera Maya
Report:
April 21, 2026 brought one of those days that reminds you why Puerto Aventuras is one of the finest sportfishing destinations in the Caribbean. Peak season was in full swing, and our guests aboard Lobster Tales — our flagship 40ft Luhrs — were about to find out exactly what that means.
Under the command of Captain Leo, we headed out on an 8-hour private charter, running the deep blue drop-offs where Atlantic sailfish patrol during the spring peak. Rigged with tournament-grade Penn gear and fresh Ballyhoo, we didn’t have to wait long. The moment a sailfish crashed our spread and launched into a full acrobatic display — tail-walking across the surface, shaking its head against the line — every angler on board knew this was something special.
The fight tested both skill and endurance, but the crew guided the guests through every run and jump. After a clean fight and a professional handle for photos, the sailfish was carefully released back into the deep — in keeping with our strict conservation policy for billfish.
Between the action, guests enjoyed fresh ceviche prepared right on board and the comfort of the air-conditioned cabin during the runs between drops. Eight hours on the water gave us the time and range to fish the spots that produce — and on this day, they delivered.

Mahi-Mahi and Wahoo Double — 8-Hour Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
There are few sights in sportfishing quite like the neon flash of a mahi-mahi erupting from the surface — unless it’s a wahoo peeling line off a Shimano reel at full sprint right behind it. On this 8-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras, our guests got both.
Aboard Lobster Tales, our 40ft Luhrs, we ran the offshore grounds where the double-species action this day was nothing short of world-class. The group handled both fish like seasoned pros — controlling the drag, working the angles, and landing two of the most prized species in the Caribbean on the same trip.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or a family chasing your first big offshore catch, days like this are exactly what Pescado Adventures is built for. Everything is included federal licenses, tournament-grade gear, and the fresh ceviche we prepare right on board while you relive the fight.

Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi Action — 6-Hour Charter Puerto Aventuras

April delivers some of the finest sportfishing of the year off Puerto Aventuras, and this 6-hour private charter was a textbook example of why.
Under the command of Captain Leo Cruz aboard Lobster Tales, our 40ft Luhrs, we headed out into classic blue water conditions and spent the morning trolling the deep drop-offs. It didn’t take long for the reels to start screaming. The highlight came when an Atlantic sailfish crashed the spread and put up an incredible, acrobatic fight — the kind that tests every angler on the boat. True to our conservation commitment, the sailfish was carefully handled for photos and released healthy back into the deep so it could fight another day.

Family Sailfish Charter — Afternoon Trip from Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Some of the best moments on the water happen in the afternoon, when most visitors are back at their resorts and the Caribbean Sea has the offshore grounds all to itself. This 4-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras was a reminder of exactly that.
Captain Leo Cruz took the family offshore aboard Lobster Tales, our 40ft Luhrs, and it didn’t take long for the action to find us. An Atlantic sailfish hit our spread hard — a powerful, spectacular fish that gave the whole family a real sense of just how strong these billfish are. The standout moment of the day came when our youngest angler got up close as the fish came alongside the boat — the look on their face said it all. This is exactly what these trips are about.
After a few quick photos to capture the memory, the sailfish was released healthy back into the deep, in keeping with our strict billfish conservation policy.

Double Sailfish at Dawn — 4-Hour Morning Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
There is no better way to start a day in the Riviera Maya than a sunrise departure off Puerto Aventuras, and this 4-hour private charter proved exactly why the early run pays off.
Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales out of the marina as the first light hit the Caribbean, the morning air fresh and the sea calm. The crew worked the lines from the moment we cleared the marina, and the effort paid off in a spectacular way. The highlight of the day — and it’s a big one — was landing not one, but two Atlantic sailfish. These are the “Ferraris of the Ocean” for a reason: pure speed, acrobatic leaps, and the kind of fight that tests every angler on board. Watching guests battle both fish as the sun climbed higher over the horizon was a sight to behold.
After trophy photos with both fish, our team ensured a professional, safe release back into the deep. Two sailfish, one morning, one boat. That’s what peak season in Puerto Aventuras looks like.

Sailfish and Wahoo on an Afternoon Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Who says the morning crew gets all the fun? This 6-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras proved that the afternoon bite can be just as hot — and just as memorable.
Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales running offshore into deep blue water and clear skies while most people were still at the beach. On board was a father and his two sons, ready for action on the Caribbean Sea. The reels started screaming mid-afternoon when an Atlantic sailfish crashed the spread and put on a masterclass in acrobatics — that iconic sail flaring, the fish tail-walking across the surface, testing the young anglers every step of the way. Watching the boys work the fish together with their dad to bring it boat-side was sportfishing at its best. Our crew ensured a professional handle for photos before a safe, healthy release back into the deep. The wahoo added another hard-fighting chapter to an already memorable afternoon.

Sailfish, Wahoo and Snapper — 4-Hour Morning Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
The early bird gets the fish in Puerto Aventuras. This 4-hour early morning charter had Captain Leo Cruz and the crew of Lobster Tales out of the marina before sunrise, baits rigged and lines in the water the moment the first light hit the Caribbean.
The family on board — including some young anglers who traded their morning sleep for screaming reels — were rewarded with one of the most varied catches you can ask for on a single morning. An Atlantic sailfish hit the spread early, putting on a full aerial show that had everyone on deck. Watching the kids handle a billfish before breakfast is exactly what the Pescado Adventures experience is built around. The wahoo added blistering speed to the mix, and as we worked closer to shore, a run of beautiful yellowtail snapper rounded out a full-circuit morning that covered the water column from the deep blue offshore to the reef.

The Caribbean waters off Puerto Aventuras are absolutely electric right now, and this 4-hour late morning charter was proof. Crystal clear turquoise water, a light breeze, and high activity on the surface — the conditions were as close to perfect as it gets.
Captain Leo Cruz put Lobster Tales on the fish with the precision that comes from decades navigating the southern Riviera Maya coastline. When the spread is rigged right and you know exactly where the currents meet, the sailfish find you. And find us they did — an absolute beauty of an Atlantic Sailfish crashed the lines, dorsal fin breaking the surface in that rush that never gets old. Grouper and Snapper Family Charter — 4-Hour Trip Puerto Aventuras
Report:
You don’t need a full day on the water to land wall-hanger trophies out of Puerto Aventuras. This 4-hour private charter with Captain Leo Cruz aboard Lobster Tales proved exactly that, delivering a banner day of quality and variety for a family that came looking for action and left with a cooler and a story.
The standout catch was a massive Black Grouper that tested both the gear and the angler’s strength all the way to the surface — one of those fish that makes everyone on the boat stop and stare. The Mutton Snapper added to the haul, those rosy-hued, stubborn fighters living up to their reputation as one of the most satisfying catches in the Riviera Maya. These are table fish of the highest quality, and the family had plenty to celebrate when we got back to the dock.
But the highlight of the day — as it so often is on a family trip — was the look on the youngest angler’s face when that grouper came up over the transom. Seeing the next generation light up at the sight of a monster fish is what the Pescado Adventures experience is all about.

Mutton and Yellowtail Snapper — 4-Hour Morning Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
The Caribbean sun was just beginning to paint the horizon as Captain Leo Cruz slipped 7 Mares, our 38ft Bertram, out of the Puerto Aventuras marina for a 4-hour late morning charter. There is a stillness to the Riviera Maya coastline in those early hours that makes the ocean feel like it belongs only to you — but the quiet didn’t last long.
The reels were singing before the coffee went cold. Mutton Snapper were the star of the show — impressive specimens known for their wary nature, stubborn fight, and a place at the top of any Caribbean table. These are fish that test your patience and your gear, and when they finally come up over the transom, you understand why anglers keep coming back for them. The Yellowtail Snapper rounded out a healthy haul — fast, aggressive, and perfect for fresh ceviche back on shore. The 7 Mares handled the light Caribbean chop with the ease only a classic Bertram can offer, giving the guests a stable, comfortable platform to work the bottom.

Sailfish Release on an 8-Hour Charter — Riviera Maya
Report:
Peak sailfish season may not have been officially in full swing yet, but nobody told the fish. This 8-hour late morning charter out of Puerto Aventuras delivered one of those days that reminds you exactly why the Riviera Maya is one of the finest billfish destinations in the world.
The conditions were as good as it gets — crystal clear Caribbean blue, a light breeze, and perfect billfish weather. Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales positioned on the drop-off quickly, and within a short cruise from the marina the reels were screaming. An Atlantic sailfish put on a full acrobatic masterclass — that iconic dorsal fin slicing through the surface, the fish tail-walking against the drag — before being carefully handled for photos and released healthy back into the deep. For this particular client, who had carried a lifelong dream of landing a trophy billfish, the moment was everything they had imagined. Off-Season Sailfish on an 8-Hour Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Traditional seasonality tells us that sailfish peak between February and June in the Riviera Maya. The Caribbean Sea clearly didn’t get the memo this year. Just two days before Christmas, this 8-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras delivered one of the most welcome early-season surprises we’ve had in years.
Captain Leo Cruz had barely cleared the Puerto Aventuras marina aboard Lobster Tales when the outrigger snapped. A sailfish — spirited, acrobatic, and very much aware of the fight it had on its hands — put on a full aerial display that had everyone on deck wide-eyed. After a hard-fought battle, we brought the fish alongside for a quick photo before releasing this beauty back into the deep where it belongs.
It’s a reminder that the ocean operates on its own schedule, and that December off Puerto Aventuras still has plenty to offer for those willing to get out on the water. Some of the most memorable catches of the year happen when the fish don’t read the calendar.

King Mackerel on a 6-Hour Morning Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Every day is a fishing day when you’re this close to the Caribbean. There’s something about the first light hitting the water and the hum of Lobster Tales’ engines as Captain Leo Cruz steers us out past the reef on a 6-hour morning charter that never gets old — and this December morning was no exception.
It’s not always about the trophy, though pulling in a couple of solid King Mackerel like these certainly doesn’t hurt. Kingfish are a serious sport fish — fast, aggressive, and capable of blistering runs that keep every angler on their toes. The crew put the guests on the fish, and the smiles said the rest. The Riviera Maya coastline looked as spectacular as ever from the deck, the salt air doing what it always does — reminding you that there is nowhere else you’d rather be.

Blue Marlin on a 6-Hour Charter — Puerto Aventuras, Riviera Maya
Report:
The Mexican Caribbean has a way of reminding you that there is no true off-season when you’re fishing the right waters. This 6-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras delivered one of the most significant catches of the year — and it came in December, when most anglers have already put their rods away.
Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales working the deep blue when the line came tight on something serious. A massive Blue Marlin — early for the season, fully powered, and absolutely not interested in coming to the boat — took 45 minutes to bring alongside. Forty-five minutes of raw strength, deep runs, and sheer endurance that tested every person on deck. Seeing that electric blue shimmer against the Caribbean turquoise as the fish finally came up is the kind of sight that never leaves you. The fish was carefully handled for photos before being released back into the deep in line with our strict billfish conservation policy.

6-Hour Fishing Charter from Puerto Aventuras — Riviera Maya
Report:
Some days on the water speak for themselves. This 6-hour private charter out of Puerto Aventuras delivered exactly what a November day in the Riviera Maya should — blue water, good company, and the kind of offshore calm that makes every cast feel like it could be the one.
Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales running the deep blue beyond the reef, lines in and spread working as the Puerto Aventuras coastline faded behind us. November is an underrated month for offshore fishing in the Riviera Maya — the crowds have thinned, the conditions are often pristine, and the fish don’t know it’s the shoulder season. For the guests on board this Sunday, it was a reminder that there is no bad day when you’re out on the Caribbean Sea with a rod in your hand.

Bonito Action on a 6-Hour Morning Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
We hit them hard and fast on this early morning 6-hour private fishing charter out of the Puerto Aventuras marina. Our Pescado Adventures crew expertly navigated the currents and got us on top of some really cool action.
Bonito is a firm, meaty, and oily fish (similar to tuna, but with a stronger flavor), which makes it an excellent candidate for the grill, as it holds together well and the char enhances its richness. Our team’s consensus for the “best” grilled bonito recipe is one that uses simple, bright Mediterranean flavors to complement the fish’s strong, dark meat (think lemon, garlic, oregano, olive oil).
A delicious meal is the best reward after catching, catching, catching!

Mahi-Mahi on an 8-Hour Morning Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
An early morning departure from Puerto Aventuras set the tone for what turned out to be a long and rewarding day on the water. Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales running offshore as the sun came up, targeting mahi-mahi in the blue water beyond the reef. Mahi are one of the most electrifying species to hook in the Caribbean — acrobatic, fast, and relentless once they’re on the line — and on this July morning they were in full form.
An 8-hour charter gives the crew the time and range to cover serious ground, working the offshore grounds properly and staying with the fish as they move. The morning produced solid action, and the guests made the most of every hour on the water with lines in and anticipation high. These long summer days offshore are what makes July one of the most exciting months to be out on the Riviera Maya coastline.
Back at the dock, the day ended the way all great trips should — with a proper spread laid out on the boat. Fresh ceviche made from the catch, guacamole and chips, sandwiches, and fruit rounded out a full day that had everything. Mahi-Mahi Season in Full Swing — 4-Hour Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
It is definitely Mahi Mahi season along the southern Riviera Maya coastline. Now is when they are running hot.
Although this has not been great for beach lovers, Mahi are often associated with floating debris or weed lines, like the sargassum which we now have a lot of in the Caribbean. These floating ecosystems provide shade and cover, which baitfish utilize to hide from predators. This concentration of bait is what ultimately draws in the game fish.
So let’s get out there and go find some fish!

Barracuda and Snapper on a 6-Hour Charter — Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Some days on the Caribbean Sea line up perfectly — the weather cooperates, the fish are biting, and the food at the end of it all makes every hour worth it. This 6-hour charter out of Puerto Aventuras on July 4th was exactly that kind of day, with Captain Leo Cruz and the crew of Lobster Tales delivering the full package from start to finish.
Barracuda were the first to find us — aggressive, lightning-fast, and always good for a burst of adrenaline when they hit the line. Snapper rounded out the catch as the crew worked the bottom, those stubborn, hard-pulling fish living up to their reputation as one of the most satisfying catches in the Riviera Maya. Between species and technique, the day covered a solid range of what these waters have to offer in the height of summer.
Good weather and calm seas made the whole outing easy and comfortable — the kind of conditions that remind you why so many anglers keep coming back to Puerto Aventuras. Sailfish, Wahoo and Barracuda — 6-Hour Morning Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
All in a day’s work out along the Riviera Maya’s Caribbean coastline. Barracuda, wahoo and sailfish on one single outing! Sailfish season is underway, and as we have mentioned before, the Riviera Maya provides a compelling habitat for sailfish, drawing them in with a combination of favorable environmental conditions and abundant food sources.
Luckily for us the ideal fishing areas are just outside of the Puerto Aventuras marina, so no long trips to get to the action. Our lines are wet literally minutes out to sea.

Sailfish Triple Release — 4-Hour Afternoon Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Three sailfish released on a single 4-hour afternoon charter out of Puerto Aventuras. That’s not just a good day — that’s a day you talk about for years.
Captain Leo Cruz had Lobster Tales running the offshore grounds on an early PM departure, taking advantage of what March delivers along the southern Riviera Maya coastline. The sailfish were active and on the feed, and the crew put the guests right on top of them. Three fish hooked, three fish fought, and three fish released — each one a full-credit billfish battle that tested the gear and the anglers from the moment the line went tight to the moment the fish came alongside the boat.
What makes a triple release on a 4-hour trip so remarkable is the efficiency of it. No wasted time, no dead ends — just a disciplined crew working the spread, reading the water, and putting anglers in position when the opportunity showed itself. March is when sailfish season hits its stride in the Riviera Maya, and this afternoon proved exactly why. All three fish were carefully handled and released healthy back into the deep in line with our strict billfish conservation policy. Three for three.

Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi — 4-Hour Morning Charter Puerto Aventuras
Report:
Sailfish season is starting in the Riviera Maya.
Did you know that the Riviera Maya provides a compelling habitat for sailfish, drawing them in with a combination of favorable environmental conditions and abundant food sources. One of the sailfish’s behavioral characteristics that is most advantageous to our charter fishing operation is coastal proximity. While sailfish are open-ocean dwellers, they often venture closer to shore in the Riviera Maya, particularly where coral reefs and freshwater runoff create productive feeding zones. In addition, the quick drop off of the continental shelf, very close to the Riviera Maya shoreline, allows sailfish quick access to deep water, and then also quick access to shallow bait fish concentrations.
If you love the sport and want some real action, now is the time to get to sea!

Wahoo winter season
Report:
More wahoo on board. Fortunately for us, wahoo can be caught year-round along the Riviera Maya coast, and this winter has been no exception. We also enjoyed some fresh ceviche made on the boat by our Pescado Adventures crew. For those of you that don’t know, ceviche is a Latin American dish made with raw fish or shellfish that is marinated in citrus juice and other seasonings. The acidic marinade “cooks” the fish, giving it a firm texture and a tangy, refreshing flavor. Delicious when fresh!

King mackerel
Report:
Grouper and king mackerel on the same afternoon trip! We love king mackerel because they can grow quite large, reaching up to 5.5 feet long and weighing over 100 pounds. Add this to their strong fight and acrobatic leaps, and its game on! And if that is not all, king mackerel’s meat is firm and flavorful, best enjoyed grilled, smoked, or blackened. They are migratory, moving north in the spring and south in the fall following warmer waters and prey. So let’s get out there and find some more!

End of 2024 success
Report:
Monday, December 30, 2024 Brought two nicely-sized wahoo on board on the second last day of the year. The sea has been so calm during the month of December. In this month Puerto Aventuras typically experiences moderate wind conditions. The average wind speed is around 9.3 mph (15.0 kph). This makes for comfortable weather with a gentle breeze. The wind in December is generally pleasant and not too strong, making it ideal for outdoor activities like swimming, sunbathing, and sailing.

Early morning sailfish bites big
Report:
We hit this beautiful sailfish pretty early out of the Puerto Aventuras marina. Fortunately for us, the southern Riviera Maya coast boasts a complex underwater topography that creates ideal conditions for pelagic species like marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi. The continental shelf and slope, ocean currents, reef systems and upwelling zones all combine to create a dynamic and productive marine environment that supports a thriving population of pelagic fish. So those of you who want to enjoy some exciting fish, this is definitely a great spot for all you sport fishing enthusiasts.

More sailfish surprise out of Puerto Aventuras
Report:
This is the second sailfish we have landed in the space of a week. In the Riviera Maya, sailfish are present year-round, but their abundance varies significantly with the seasons. The peak season for sailfish fishing typically occurs from late winter to early summer, with March through June being the prime months for encountering these magnificent fish. During this period, the warmer waters and plentiful baitfish attract large schools of sailfish to the region. While still present during the rest of the year, their numbers are considerably lower outside of the peak season. So very privileged we were to bring this beauty on board for a quick photo session.

This baby is definitely going to be prepared on the barbecue. 🙂 In the Riviera Maya, wahoo are present year-round, but their abundance varies depending on the season. Report:
They are here! Wahoo are a highly sought-after game fish in the Riviera Maya due to their aggressive strikes and delicious meat. While they can be caught year-round, the best time to target Wahoo is during the cooler months, from November to March. During this period, water temperatures drop, and Wahoo tend to congregate in larger schools, making them easier to find and catch. Let’s go for it!

On this 6-hour private fishing charter we managed to hook 5 barracuda, 1 wahoo, 1 yellowtail kingfish and 1 bonito. A fantastic catch that had everyone in the group see some action. Hard work, big fish
Report:
While we have been out fishing most days of this month, we haven’t published any reports lately. Here’s one where we managed to hook a really good-looking wahoo, which is a great fish for grilling because it’s firm and meaty, making it less likely to fall apart on the grill. Try marinating it with a combination of olive oil, lime juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. After grilling serve with lime wedges. Wahoo can dry out quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. It’s best served medium-rare to medium. One of our favorite recipes!

Thread the wahoo pieces onto skewers along with chunks of pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion. Grill the kabobs over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the wahoo is cooked through and the pineapple is caramelized. Drizzle with a teriyaki glaze for extra flavor.
